I often think of the humming bird in spring and wait patiently for the first sight of this brave little bird to come to my garden.

Through the eyes of a shaman we can ask the humming bird to teach us their ways, to drink directly from the sweet nectar of life as seamlessly and easily as the humming bird drinks from the nectar of the flowers, needing no intermediary. Teaching us that we can connect directly to our purpose, strength and wisdom, we do not need someone else to explain our connection to the divine.
Besides watching for hummers, spring is a time for planting seeds in our gardens. One of the shamanic sayings is, “does that grow corn for you”? This is another way of saying is your life working for you? This spring you may want to consider what seeds of intention you would like to plant for your life. Notice what, is growing corn for you right now.
The seeds you are planting may be your yoga practice, taking time to meditate, being aware of the food you eat; these are all be seeds of intention for your well being.
As gardeners we would not plant seeds in a gravel pit, and expect the flowers and corn to grow. So this spring as we plant the seeds for our well being it would serve us well to provide a fertile soil for these intentions. These can be as simple as having some affirmations that will support you and your dreams.
One suggestion of support is to do affirmations each morning before you engage in your day. Close your eyes and take a big breath in and then slowly exhale, any of the worries doubts that may cloud your energy field. Then breathe in with intention the sweet nectar of, I trust myself and feel this flow through your body. Then, I love myself, allowing this energy to come directly to your heart. Finally breathing in, I honor myself, allowing this to settle the critical voice that can be so pervasive.
So I wish you joy for the days of spring and when you see your first humming bird remember the support this little one can bring for our impossible journeys.
